How much data does the SmartGPS use while syncing through Bluetooh?
SmartGPS is designed to efficienty manage data transfer through a combination of WiFi, and at the consumers option, SmartPhone data. Daily syncing of the SmartGPS through WiFi will ensure social media, weather, fuel prices and safety alerts are current. For “on-the-go” updates for frequently changing content , such as weather or fuel prices, consumers have the option to connect their smartphone data to SmartGPS via Bluetooth (SmartPhone data connection is turned on/off by consumer). Monthly smartphone data usage when connected to the SmartGPS will vary. Consumer who sync to WiFi daily and do not travel outside their home area, can expect monthly data usage to be approximately 200mb or less. For consumers who do not sync to WiFi daily, and/or are traveling in new areas, smartphone data usage can be up to 1G per month or more. For the best experience, consumers should pre-sync their SmartGPS devices with destination cities, or sync to WiFi as soon as possible when arriving at a new city.
To pre-sync your device to planned destination or general city/zip code location, take the following steps:
Tap on the
button on the map screen
Tap on the
Tap on the
option of the Set GPS Position menu field.
Tap one of the
at the bottom of the screen.
If you've selected
then select your destination from those lists but if you've selected the
option then start entering the address by typing in the City, followed by the Street name, and building number.
Verify that the location is correct and tap on
to set the GPS position to that location.
Now that the GPS position has been set manually, when the SmartGPS connects to a Wi-Fi network it will download the POI information surrounding that location.
