How to Backup and Restore Your Settings or History for Switch Series Devices
Note:
The process detailed in this document may not work if the storage format in the device software version you are performing the restore has changed since the device software version you performed the backup.
BACKUP
Connect your device to your computer using the Charging/Data USB Cradle. This puts your device in USB mass storage mode and will show up as a volume/drive on your computer named "MAGELLAN".
Copy all contents (files & folders) from the device's root folder to your computer.
Restore
Copy all contents (files & folders)
except
the MagellanDevice.xml file from your computer back to the device’s root folder. If asked whether to overwrite existing files select yes.
Open the MagellanDevice.xml file on your computer in a text editor. (
NOTE:
in our example shown we are using Microsoft notepad)
Copy the
block of text "

Open the MagellanDevice.xml file in the device's root folder in a text editor.
Paste the
block of text to the bottom of the MagellanDevice.xml file in the device's root folder.
Note: If for any reason you are unable to use your device after performing backup and restore you will need to follow these steps below.
Connect your device to your computer using the Charging/Data USB Cradle. This puts your device in USB mass storage mode and will show up as a volume/drive on your computer named "MAGELLAN".
Delete all contents (files & folders) from the device's root folder.
As a result the drive will appear as seen below. Disconnect the device Turn it on and the start-up screen followed by the setup screen will appear, follow the on screen prompts and the device should begin to function as normal.
