How do I calculate speed warnings?
Reminder: Please use SmartGPS Eco to ensure that your RoadMate is running the latest software.
Depending where you are traveling, rural or urban areas, you can adjust when you are warned when speeding. If the road you are traveling on contains speed information it will warn you if you are traveling over the speed limit. By default both rural and urban areas are set at 100%. This means you will be warned when you are traveling over the posted speed. If the posted speed is 50 miles an hour, you will be warned when you are traveling 51 miles an hour. By adjusting the percentage above or below 100% changes when you will be warned. If the posted speed is 50 miles an hour and you adjust the speed to 110%, you will be warned when your are traveling 10% over the posted speed limit. This would mean you would be warned when your speed hits 56 miles an hour instead of the actual posted speed of 50 miles an hour.
